TOP REGGAE, GOSPEL ACTS TO PERFORM AT INAUGRUAL MOTHER'S DAY
REGGAE FEST IN ATLANTA
Atlanta: Mother's in Atlanta, Georgia will be given an extra
special treat this Mother's Day, when Island Gold Promotions and
Irie Link host the First Annual Mother's Day Reggae Fest on
Sunday, May 11, 2008 at Conyers International Horse Park, 1996
Centennial Olympic Pkwy in Conyers. The all star line-up
features secular and the gospel performers, including John "1000
volts" Holt, Ken "Mr. Smooth" Boothe, Ernie Smith, Glen
Washington, Leroy Sibbles, Cables, JC Lodge, Glen Washington,
Tinga Stewart, Wayne Wade, Fab 5, Joan Myers, (formerly of the
Grace Thrillers) Charmaine DaCosta (formerly of Worl a Girls)
Jenieve & Robert Bailey and Georgette Coley from Jamaica.
Fresh from a stellar performance at his 60th birthday
celebration in New York this past weekend, Boothe will be eager
to prove to fans in Atlanta that he is still at the top of his
game. The veteran crooner came to prominence during the
Rocksteady era releasing popular hits songs "When I Fall In
Love," "Every Thing I Own," "Artibella" and "Movin Away." He
garnered international notoriety when he teamed with Platinum
selling artiste Shaggy on a remake of his popular hit "The Train
Is Coming." The song garnered mainstream airplay and was
featured on the soundtrack of the movie "The Money Train"
starring Wesley Snipes.
John Holts who has consistently delivered enthralling
performances over the course of his career is expected to ignite
fans with staples "Stick By Me," "Strange Things," "Police In
Helicopter," "OK Fred," "Wear You To The Ball" and the "Tide Is
High," made famous internationally by Blondie while Leroy
Sibbles, the former lead singer of the Heptones should stamp his
authority with "Fatty Fatty," "Love Don't Come Easy" and "Party
Time."
Representing for the gospel fraternity is talented singer,
songwriter Joan Myers whose mission it is to win souls for
Christ. Myers has been plying her craft professionally since the
early 80's when she launched her career as a member of
successful Grace Thrillers. With the group, she recorded two
albums – Can't Even Walk and Make Us One and toured the
Caribbean, Canada, and the USA, shearing the stage with Shirley
Caesar, Andre Crouch, Hopeton Lewis among other. She has
achieved several milestones as a solo artist and has performed
at several important events including as a guest performer for
then Governor General of Jamaica Sir Howard Cooke, a reception
for former Prime Minister of Jamaica, the Hon. Edward Seaga and
Hands Across Jamaica. Other strong performances are expected
from Glen Washington, Ernie Smith and gospel singer Charmaine
DaCosta.
